In the past decade I’ve owned my own design firm and have been an Interior Designer for luxury design firms as well as more budget-friendly ones. I’ve also done eDesign and am formally trained as a home decor stylist and buyer for home decor boutiques and furniture stores.
I went the traditional route of getting my Bachelor’s degree and I quickly realized nothing I learned in school actually prepared me to own my own design business, get new clients, or work with clients from consultation to final install.
This is why I’m so passionate about teaching others how to become Interior Designers and start their own design business. I want to share the knowledge I’ve learned in the past decade to help new designers be successful.
The design industry has a bad reputation of shutting out new designers and gatekeeping information. I believe there’s room for all of us and we only improve the industry by helping each other!

This program is for anyone who wants to start their own design business.
Our members have a wide range of experience prior to joining. Many are complete beginners and have never worked with a client before while others already have a business but need help refining their process. Some course students have a degree or are in design school while others don’t have a degree. The program has been beneficial to them all.
Even if you went the route of getting a design degree or have worked with clients before, this course will still be beneficial. It will teach you how to set up your business, how to work with a client from start to final install, and how to order product (including retail + wholesale) – none of which I was taught in design school.
Both! You’ll learn the business side of design including how to legally set up your business, how to determine your design services, your pricing, and how to get new clients. We will walk through all the steps to take a client through from first phone call to final install.
You’ll also learn important design techniques such as how to create digital design boards and simple layouts, the formulas to style and accessorize like a pro, and how to order custom items.
According to the legislative department at IIDA and the CIDQ, there are no regulations on who can call themselves an Interior Designer in the United States as long as you’re not calling yourself a “certified,” “registered,” or “licensed” designer. I also advice you to stay away from acting as contractor or taking on commercial projects unless you are certified to do so.
If your area doesn’t allow you to call yourself an interior designer, you could look into calling yourself an interior decorator or home stylist instead. The full program will still apply to you regardless of your title.

Remember this is a self-study program so you go at your own pace! Each lesson includes 2-4 hours worth of training videos to watch along with corresponding guides to download. You will also have a checklist of activities to complete before you move on to the next lesson’s curriculum.
On average, course members spend about 2-4 hours per lesson applying the material and are able to launch their business in the first 3 weeks.
Without registration, licensure, a permit, and/or certification, you should not act as contractor on construction projects (new builds, remodels).
You can still work on these projects from an aesthetic perspective. This means someone else is the contractor on the job but you can help make selections (paint, tile, counters, floors, etc).
You should also not design commercial and public spaces unless licensed to do so.
You will also have access to the course for 2 years after purchasing so you can go back and review content if needed. You will have lifetime access to the Facebook group so you can continue getting support as your business grows.
