When I was first starting out as a new interior designer, I had no idea where to start. I got my Bachelor’s degree because I thought that was the only way to become a designer (read more about how you likely don’t need a degree here). I was hoping university would teach me how to start my own interior design business, but after graduating I was just as clueless as ever.
I looked for an interior design mentor or an online course that would teach me how to start my interior design business but couldn’t find anything.
I ended up working as an interior designer under several NCIDQ certified designers in both commercial and residential design. I’ve designed for luxury firms and more budget-friendly ones, with budgets ranging from a few thousand dollars to a few million.
In addition to being an interior designer, I was formally trained as a home decor stylist, merchandiser, and wholesale buyer for design showrooms. I’ve worked with furniture manufacturers on custom furniture construction and what elements to look for when selecting quality furniture.
After starting my own interior design firm, I knew I wanted to help aspiring designers who were in the same position I was in years ago when I didn’t know where to start.
I’ve taken all my years of expertise and bundled it into an easy to digest, step-by-step video course that teaches new interior designers and decorators how to start their own design businesses from scratch.
