Affordable Modern Farmhouse Bathroom Design

Affordable Modern Farmhouse Design

The sources for my affordable basement guest bathroom are one of my most requested items. All sources are linked below. We were working with a tight budget and so I had to get creative with picking items that were beautiful and budget-friendly! When we purchased our home, the main floor was already finished in a modern farmhouse style so we decided to continue the design in the basement. The plan was to finish the basement then sell the house shortly after but this was early 2020.. I’m sure you can guess what changed our plans haha!

One of the most difficult tasks for an interior designer is staying on a tight budget. I’ve done this countless times with my clients but I’m finding it’s actually more difficult to do it for myself as I have “expensive taste syndrome.” Everything I fall in love with is the most expensive option (of course!) As challenging as it’s been to keep to a tight budget, I’ve actually enjoyed thinking of creative ways to save money and going on the hunt for smoking deals. Here’s a look at the design plan I put together for the modern farmhouse guest bathroom design.

Design Options:

I made most of the decisions pretty easily but the one that stumped me was the floor tile. I knew I wanted to do a large scale hexagon tile but wasn’t sure which color. I found 3 affordable hexagon tile options in matte black, a gray variant (similar looking to cement), and a faux white marble. Since they were from Home Depot, I knew I could easily return so I ordered a box of each color to see in the space. Because of the color of the blue gray vanity, the black was too dark and the gray got lost and didn’t have enough contrast. We had ordered a plain white tile but ultimately decided to go with a faux marble. You can see the tile installed below.

Before & After:

Here’s the final reveal of my budget friendly modern farmhouse bathroom. We chose the free standing vanity in the blue gray color, 72″ size, and white quartz top. We lightened up the basement bathroom with elongated subway tile in the shower, faux white marble hexagon floor tiles, and a simple modern white toilet.

I then brought in contrast with my black scalloped wood framed mirrors, oil rubbed bronze vintage inspired fixtures and faucets for the sinks, black knobs on the vanity, and black towel wall hooks. The “stars” of the room are definitely the star pendants. They make a huge statement in the space on a small budget! Everyone who enters the room comments on them. I then brought in some seagrass lidded baskets as a hamper and gray striped turkish towels to mimic the gray in the vanity.

I hope this gives you some inspiration and ideas for your bathroom remodel. All affordable sources used are linked below.
